Starting today, the extremely light-weight Tweelin Telemetry Agent for Windows, free to download and use, allows all the existing iOS and Android users to include their PC in the Digital Serendipity ecosystem.

Moreover, the Tweelin Telemetry Agent is a fundamental component of the Tweelin enterprise solution, enabling the upcoming integrations to securely run as standalone applications on any laptop or desktop PC.

What is the Tweelin Telemetry Agent?

It is a very light-weight Windows background application accessible from the system tray. Its sole purpose is to send relevant changes of your computer status to the Tweelin backend, so that the Digital Serendipity engine can consider laptop and desktop PC activity when determining the right moment and the right channel for a serendipitous conversation.

Why do you need the Tweelin Telemetry Agent?

Because the right moment to talk depends also on what is going on with your computer.

It turns out that what you do on your Windows machine is very relevant to determining the right moment to connect you with other people in an impromptu fashion.

For example, if your laptop is locked or you are away from your computer, then you are currently not reachable on that device.

Allowing the Tweelin Digital Serendipity engine to securely know about a few OS telemetry data point changes makes a big difference in terms of accuracy of the right moment to talk.

Our current customer early deployments indicate a right moment accuracy around 90%.

Not bad, right?

Especially when you consider that the average impromptu call has only a 40% success rate (much less for enterprise workers during work hours).

Because Tweelin for Microsoft Teams and upcoming integrations rely on it.

Thanks to the telemetry agent, the Tweelin solution is now extended to computers, without requiring any mobile app involvement.

Tweelin for Microsoft Teams and other upcoming integrated applications, mostly used on laptop or desktop PCs, rely on the Tweelin Telemetry Agent as the primary data source to determine user availability.

This architecture is very powerful because it provides a universal user presence, which is much more accurate than the traditional single-app collaboration presence indicators (green/yellow/red dot).

Typically, a single-app presence does not consider other apps or devices. For instance, you might be busy on a WhatsApp desktop call, and Zoom will still show you as free. Since it considers telemetry at the OS level, the Tweelin Telemetry Agent knows whether or not you are on that WhatsApp desktop call, and, if yes, you won’t be bothered (by any other Tweelin user) on any other channel, including mobile ones.

Because it maximizes the overall value of the solution.

In addition to the above mentioned accuracy gain, including your computer in the Digital Serendipity ecosystem enables users to be connected at the right time across devices and applications.

Your wishes to talk to friends or coworkers now live across all your Tweelin apps and enabled devices.

To illustrate the concept, imagine you want to talk to your teammate Ashley. You may send her a wish to talk asap via Microsoft Teams bot; she may accept on her Tweelin mobile app; then, you close your laptop, drive home, and the conversation with Ashley may happen at the right moment over Microsoft Teams, between your mobile version of Teams and her laptop.

Enabling cross-device/app wish fulfillment maximizes the occasions of talking and, therefore, the amount of 1:1 meetings that can be avoided.

“Will you spy me?”

Never! Tweelin is designed to meet the most stringent enterprise security requirements. Any time a relevant event happens— e.g., your laptop goes from “away from computer” to “active” — that event is sent to the Tweelin Serendipity Engine that updates your current status with the new value.

Every new value overrides the previous one, and no sensitive data is collected.
